NM Museum of Natural History & Science Posted by Hello

In 11 days I will fly for the first time in my life.
In 11 days I will be on (a real) vacation for the first time since 1988.
In 11 days I will be staying in a nice hotel with no dishes or laundry to do.
In 12 days I am going to visit the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science and I am TOTALLY STOKED!!

Ok, so I look like a big nerd but I DO NOT care. Take a look at their website and you will see why I am so excited about going.

The only thing that could make it better would be if I could take my Mom. I know that Larry & I will have a blast because he likes these things just like I do ... but my Mom would LOVE it.
*Note to Mom: Don't worry.. I'll take lots of pics*

A few other places I hope to visit are:

Petroglyph National Monument
http://www.desertusa.com/pnm/pnm.html
More than 15,000 prehistoric and historic Native American and Hispanic petroglyphs (images carved in rock) stretch 17-miles along Albuquerque's West Mesa escarpment. Associated archeological sites provide important chapters in a 12,000 year-long story of human life in the Albuquerque area.

National Atomic Museum
http://www.atomicmuseum.com
The National Atomic Museum is the nation's only Congressionally chartered museum of nuclear science and history. The museum was established in 1969 as an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today's peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

Indian Reservations

Area Pueblos Nowhere are so many pueblos accessible to the public than in the Albuquerque area. New Mexico is home to nineteen Indian Pueblos and three reservations.
Check out the Do's and Don'ts on that website (ie: Do not ask questions regarding the meaning of a dance and do not talk to the dancers or singers.)

Museum of Archaeology & Material Culture
http://www.museumarch.org/
The museum is a 501(c)(3) non- profit institution dedicated to education, research and historic preservation.
Ok.. so I KNOW my Mom would love this place since my whole life I've known she really wanted to be an archaeologist.

The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History
http://www.cabq.gov/museum/
The Featured Exhibition: Albuquerque has never seen an exhibition quite like this. El Alma de EspaƱa, The Soul of Spain is now open at The Albuquerque Museum. This is the first exhibition devoted solely to Spanish Masters ever shown in Albuquerque .

Explora! Science Center and Children's Museum
http://www.explora.mus.nm.us/
Explora: creating opportunities for inspirational discovery and the joy of lifelong learning through interactive experiences in science, technology and art.

Cliff's Amusement Park
http://www.cliffsamusementpark.com/
With their 3 new rides.. this should be ALOT of fun!!

And last but not least... 2 .. yes "2" Cooking Schools..
http://www.eatblueplate.com and http://www.janebutel.com
I'm sure it will not compare to the Memphis Culinary Academy & the classes I took there with Tracy (cough, hack), but it should still be fun!

So.. to those of you who asked me ... Why Albuquerque?? There are just a FEW of the reasons for going.

¡Bienvenidos a Albuquerque!
