MEMPHIS, TN --The Labor Day weekend brings tragedy for one Memphis family after a murder suicide. It happened about 10:00 Friday night at a home near Kirby Parkway and Ross Road in East Memphis. Memphis police say a husband killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
Kyna Green, 37, wanted out of her marriage to Charles Green, Jr., 41, but friends and family never thought it would end this way. Her husband shot and killed her inside her East Memphis home. He walked in as she showered and in a matter of minutes her life was over.
Police say shortly afterwards they received a call to a home on Parakeet in the Westwood neighborhood where the parents of Charles Green live. He had come to their house and turned the gun on himself.
Court documents show the Kyna Green filed for a divorce in April. They were separated. He was on active duty in the military and she live in the East Memphis home with their two young children. Some who knew the couple say they suspected abuse prior to the shooting but police say they have no evidence supporting that claim.
